Jarvis becomes Defence Secretary after Healey resigns

This top job opened up after John Healey, the previous Defence Secretary, quit over a big row about military funding. Dan Jarvis, a former soldier and security minister since 2024, was appointed on Thursday by Downing Street. He steps into a "nightmare situation" regarding defence investment, with experts believing funding is insufficient.
