Japanese firms slow to use AI despite labour shortages

Only 8.4% of Japanese workers use AI in their jobs, far less than 50% in the US and 32% in the UK. Companies are risk-averse and prioritise maintaining full employment over adopting new technology that could lead to job losses. Many firms also struggle with outdated computer systems, with about 60% being over 20 years old.
