Japan tsunami warning after 7.4 quake off Honshu
Tens of thousands were told to flee to higher ground after a powerful quake hit northern Japan on Monday afternoon. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning for waves up to 3 metres for Iwate, Aomori and Hokkaido prefectures. Initial waves of around 80cm have hit the coast. Bullet train services are suspended. The Fukushima Daiichi plant is operating normally.
