Japan Orders Chinese Research Ship Out of Its Waters Near Okinawa

Japan's coast guard says a Chinese research vessel, the Kexue, has left Tokyo's exclusive economic zone after repeated radio orders to halt unauthorised survey work near Ishigaki island in Okinawa. The ship had been spotted lowering wire-like objects into the sea since September 27. Officials say unapproved Chinese surveys have more than doubled this year, with 14 cases so far, compared with six last year.
