Is AI Really Behind Big Tech's Mass Layoffs?
Major tech companies including Amazon and Meta are cutting their workforces, citing artificial intelligence as a driver. Amazon eliminated around 30,000 corporate jobs since October 2025, while investing $125 billion in AI infrastructure. Meta is planning layoffs of up to 20% of its workforce to fund AI capital expenditure, which could reach $135 billion this year alone.
