Indian scientists create world's most detailed 3D brainstem map
Researchers at India's Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre have produced Anchor, a three-dimensional atlas of the human brainstem with unprecedented cellular detail. The digital map integrates over 500 tissue sections and pinpoints upwards of 200 groups of brain cells and nerve routes. Anchor, a freely available online tool, could help doctors better understand disorders like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, and assist neurosurgeons.
