Idris Elba receives knighthood in New Year Honours.
Actor Idris Elba has been knighted in the 2025 New Year Honours List for his services to young people through his Elba Hope Foundation, which combats youth violence and supports disadvantaged youngsters. Olympic ice dancing legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were also honoured with damehood and knighthood respectively for services to ice skating. The comprehensive honours list recognises over 1,150 recipients including England's Lionesses football team and Women's Rugby World Cup winners.
