IBM and NASA create new AI model to map Moon features

The new AI model assists scientists in locating lunar ice, charting craters, and examining volcanic features by utilising an open dataset. It combines over 30 layers of spatially aligned data from nine instruments across four missions. The model cut error for ice detection by up to 22% and outperformed a comparison for crater detection by nearly 19%.
