How the UK's rush for green energy is accidentally setting fire to hundreds of roofs
The number of blazes has shot up by 133% over three years, destroying homes and even a hospital mental health unit. QBE, a commercial property insurer, gathered the figures from fire services and blamed the spike on dodgy wiring and cheap connectors. With nearly two million panels fitted in 2025 alone, the Association of British Insurers warned that sloppy work could void home policies.
