Heavy rain to bring floods but won't end UK drought

The UK is set for heavy rain this week, with a chance of surface water flooding as downpours hit very dry ground. However, this rain won't reverse the widespread drought conditions affecting wildlife, farmers, and water supplies. Wessex Water introduced a hosepipe ban on Tuesday for 1.4 million customers, its first since 1976.
