Heatwave over as a cooler, brighter weekend arrives

Britain's fifth heatwave of the summer has broken, with thundery showers giving way to a dry, bright and noticeably cooler weekend. The Met Office forecasts highs near 23C in the south east and 19C in Manchester, with temperatures below average for August in places after weeks of extreme heat. The Met Office says more changeable, wetter weather is expected to return next week.
