Hamas dissolves Gaza government for UN-backed committee
Hamas stated on Monday that it had disbanded its administration in Gaza and was making arrangements to hand over authority to a UN-supported technical committee, in accordance with a US-negotiated ceasefire agreement. Hamas characterised this choice as proof of its dedication to rebuilding Gaza; it was made nine months following the signing of the ceasefire. However, Israel dismissed the announcement as irrelevant, stating that Hamas members remain in their positions.
