Half of England and all of Wales are in drought

July was the driest in England and Wales for 190 years, with some areas seeing over 50 consecutive days without rain. Vegetable farmers are struggling with scorched crops and financial difficulties. Winemakers are prospering from the hot, dry conditions, producing more varied and higher quality wines.
