Greggs takes £1.1bn in six months as iced drinks beat the heat

Profits before tax at the British bakery chain climbed by nearly a fifth to £76m between January and June. The company added 34 extra stores over those months, bringing its total UK shop count to 2,773 sites. Greggs chief executive Roisin Currie said new menu options like chicken rolls and layered pasta salads helped attract younger, health-conscious buyers.
