Greens want to cap rent rises at 2% or less

Green Party leader Zack Polanski called on Friday for a three-year emergency brake on private rents, with no rise above inflation, wage growth or 2%, whichever is lower. He told the party's Brighton conference the Greens would also bring in a national fair rents guarantee to keep rents affordable for good. He accused Labour of talking down rent controls against the evidence.
