Government's spending £100m on apprenticeships.
John Healey, the Chancellor, told Labour's conference that cutting welfare spending is a "moral duty" and a first job with training is best for young people. He declared the Local Apprenticeships Service would be extended, implemented nationwide across England from March 2027. The scheme, connecting young individuals with employers, is financed by £100m reallocated from the Department for Work and Pensions.
