Google's chief scientist Jeff Dean leaves after 27 years
Google is shaking up its AI divisions, with chief scientist Jeff Dean departing after 27 years to start his own company. Demis Hassabis, who leads Google DeepMind, has taken on the role of chairman for that division and also serves as Alphabet's chief scientist. Google will invest in Dean's new startup, Discovery Loop, which will focus on AI for science and engineering.
