Germany building 'ark' to back up US climate data fearing meddling by Trump administration
Germany is creating a secure backup of US climate data to protect it from potential political interference or loss. The German Research Foundation, a main science funding body, started a $35 million programme in late 2025 to store copies of public US data. The initiative comes after the Trump administration cut climate research funding and removed climate change references from government websites.
