Gatwick Airport's £2.2 billion expansion to go ahead after legal challenge fails

Plans for Gatwick Airport's second runway have been cleared after campaigners lost their legal challenge to the government. The £2.2 billion project, approved in September, will move the emergency runway to handle around 100,000 more flights a year. First flights from the new runway are expected in 2030, increasing passenger choice and strengthening global links.
