French rescuers pick up 140 migrants trying to cross Channel

Early on Saturday morning, a French maritime rescue operation rescued approximately 140 migrants attempting to traverse the English Channel to reach the UK. The operation commenced on Friday morning after a monitoring station observed a migrant boat proceeding towards Dieppe. After the individuals aboard gave up their attempt to cross at about 3.30am, a child was treated by medical personnel for hypothermia.
