French police get more effective at stopping Channel boat crossings, UK says
The Home Office has stated that French police tactics are proving more effective at preventing small boats in the Channel from arriving in Britain. They intercepted 61% of crossings since a deal three months ago, a 5% rise from last year, partly by stopping 12 boats at sea. Over 15,000 people crossed by small boat between January and mid-August, down 43% on last year.
