Five EU countries want to send migrants to offshore hubs by 2027
Denmark, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Greece are proposing to dispatch migrants whose asylum applications were unsuccessful to "return hubs" located outside the EU. They met in Copenhagen on Friday to agree on a common model for the centres, which they expect to fully fund. Partner countries like Uganda and Rwanda are reportedly being discussed, with a new meeting set for Munich in September.
