Fishers catch two giant bluefin tunas off Yorkshire for first time since 1960s
The two fish weighed around 320kg each, making them twice as heavy as a typical south coast catch. Whitby crews brought the animals ashore a few days ago, shortly after new commercial permits became available in July. Marine researchers say better stock management and a warming ocean have allowed the population to recover from the brink of extinction.
