Finland finishes 124-mile border fence with Russia early
Finland has completed a 124-mile fence along its eastern border with Russia, finishing the project ahead of schedule. The 4.5-meter-high barbed wire fence, costing 356 million euros, includes surveillance cameras and patrol roads. Interior Minister Mari Rantanen said the fence is a necessary part of effective border surveillance, especially after Finland closed its border in December 2023.
