Fifa backs Infantino after World Cup sell-off apology

Fifa confirmed on Wednesday that Gianni Infantino will remain president, despite criticism over his abandoned plan to sell off commercial rights. Infantino apologised to the Fifa council and 211 member associations for not consulting them on the World Cup sell-off proposal. The world governing body stated he retains full support and will not tolerate further criticism of its governance.
