Ferry worker wins £47,089 after bosses ignored land work request
Sean Donnelly, a senior deck hand, suffered from osteoarthritis of the spine, which was made worse by ship vibrations. He repeatedly asked his employer, DFDS, to transfer him to a shore-based role, but they refused, citing payroll and administration difficulties. An employment tribunal in Ashford, Kent, ruled he was unfairly dismissed and discriminated against, awarding him £47,089.
