Báñez chaired the CEOE, Spain's main business employers' group, and served as employment minister from 2011 to 2018. Two trains collided on Wednesday near Urda, south of Madrid: a Renfe train hit an Iryo train stopped after a computer failure. Transport minister Óscar Puente called the control centre's decision to let trains move again "inexplicable", and more than 100 people were injured.
