Farmers and firefighters call for disposable barbecue ban in England, Wales

The call for a ban comes as much of England faces ongoing hot, dry weather, with wildfires estimated to have burned over 20,000 hectares across the UK this year. Paul Tompkins, the National Farmers Union deputy president, said dry conditions make vegetation highly prone to ignition. Despite the warnings, a government spokesperson stated there are no current plans for a blanket ban on disposable barbecues.
