Energy bosses urge Andy Burnham to approve two North Sea drilling projects

Ministers must make a final decision on the Rosebank and Jackdaw fields after Scottish judges overturned their 2023 approval. Adura, a partnership between Shell and Equinor, argues that local extraction secures jobs and avoids the extra emissions of imported energy. But environmental group Uplift warns that tapping new reserves wrecks climate targets and does nothing to lower customer bills.
