Economist: Healey has £22.7bn cushion, but still eyes new taxes
Simon French, an economist at the financial firm Panmure Liberum, says the government still has a £22.7bn official cushion. Sharing his latest analysis with City traders, he explained that slightly better economic growth makes emergency revenue measures unnecessary. However, Healey might still target savings and property to pay for Prime Minister Andy Burnham's £39bn extra spending ambitions.
