East West Rail hit by strike votes over who controls the doors
RMT Chiltern members voted for 24-hour strikes on 10 and 17 October in a dispute over driver-only door control on the new Oxford–Milton Keynes East West Rail stretch. The union says safety and train-manager roles are at risk; Chiltern and the DfT say two staff will still be on every train and most services should run. The £7bn line remains without a passenger start date.
