Donald Trump imposes 15% tariff on polysilicon imports from December 4

Donald Trump has set a new 15% tariff on imported polysilicon, a key material for microchips mainly from China. The tariff takes effect on December 4 and aims to boost US chip and solar panel production against Beijing. China's foreign affairs ministry criticised the tariff, saying it abuses state power and isn't good for US businesses.
