Diesel hits £2 as Britain's biggest refinery shuts for 10 weeks

Average UK diesel prices passed £2 a litre for the first time on Wednesday, on the government's price-tracking data. ExxonMobil's Fawley refinery in Hampshire, which makes almost a fifth of the petrol and diesel on UK roads, has shut for planned maintenance until November. Filling a typical diesel car now costs almost £110, about £32 more than before the Iran war.
