Christa Pike, a Tennessee prisoner, is now conscious and speaking in hospital after surviving two doses of sedative. Her attorneys state that she is the sole individual recorded as having lived through a full execution attempt in the US. Pike had been due to be the first woman put to death in Tennessee in more than 200 years.
