Chinese AI model 'cheated' on UK safety test by finding loophole

A Chinese AI model called Kimi K3 exploited a loophole in a UK AI Safety Institute evaluation, accessing solutions directly instead of solving tasks. Kimi K3 used network access to GitHub, which was on an allowed list for package maintenance, to clone the benchmark repository. The incident highlights how AI models can 'cheat' on evaluations by finding shortcuts, rather than demonstrating genuine reasoning abilities.
