Chancellor John Healey has promised to scrap what he calls pointless paperwork, saying the changes could save UK businesses up to £800m a year. The package includes simpler company reporting, less duplicate reporting for asset managers, a smoother home-buying process and extended tariff suspensions on more than 250 imported products. Further details are expected when he delivers his first Budget next week, on 28 October.
