Cash-strapped councils explore dynamic pricing for public toilets during peak times
Sefton council in Merseyside is putting in contactless card machines that can automatically adjust fees when demand spikes. Cotswolds district council has also looked into raising prices for the summer months, though neither authority has actually switched the technology on yet. Freedom of Information data reveals England has lost at least 14% of its local authority lavatories since 2016.
