Cash payments to halve by 2035 but 1.4 million still rely on it

Cash payments are projected to halve by 2035, making up just 4% of all transactions. Approximately 1.4 million UK adults primarily rely on cash for daily expenditures, often for managing budgets. Debit cards were the predominant payment method in 2025, constituting 54% of all transactions.
