Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz lost to Ben Shelton in a five-set match that finished at 3:33 a.m. ET on Wednesday, the latest ever end to a US Open match. Alcaraz, who had been out for over four months with a wrist injury, was seen vomiting before the final set. Shelton's victory means an American man will play in Sunday's final, the first since 2003.
