Carlos Alcaraz could stop an American winning the US Open men's title

Three American men are still in the draw, but all are in the same half as Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion. He plays Ben Shelton on Tuesday in the quarter-finals, then Frances Tiafoe or Alex Michelsen in the semis. An American hasn't won the men's singles title in 23 years, since Andy Roddick in 2003.
