Captured Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro asks US court to drop drug charges

The ousted politician is currently locked up in a federal jail in Brooklyn after American forces raided Caracas and captured him in January. His legal team submitted a request in Manhattan on Wednesday, arguing he cannot face trial because foreign leaders are protected by international law. If this legal bid fails, he will stand trial on 1 June 2027.
