Burnham's gran had her ring ripped off in a care home
Andy Burnham told Labour's conference that his gran's engagement ring was ripped from her finger and stolen in a care home, and her savings and house went on care fees. He called his generation of politicians, himself included, too cowardly to fix care, and promised a Beveridge-style new social contract. He told care workers, often on poverty pay, that they were not invisible to him.
