Burnham to tackle social care, youth unemployment, and increase devolution
Prime Minister Andy Burnham is prioritising social care reform, drawing on his personal experience with his father's Alzheimer's. He plans to accelerate a review into the sector and consider exempting existing care workers from tougher immigration rules. Burnham also aims to devolve more power to local authorities to address youth unemployment, which currently affects nearly one million young people.
