Burnham promises optimism and public control in first PM statement

Prime Minister Andy Burnham will outline his vision for Britain on Tuesday, focusing on stronger public control of essential services. He will also push for decentralising power, including a new government unit in Manchester called No 10 North. Burnham plans to address the cost of living, having previously proposed a £2 bus fare cap and removing VAT from energy bills.
