Britain Took About 2.5bn Lines of Cocaine in a Year

Police across Britain are recording more crimes linked to cocaine, a Guardian investigation has found. Crimes mentioning the drug rose 10% since 2019, while Home Office wastewater testing suggests use in England climbed 26% since 2021. Around 123,000kg was consumed in 2024-25, roughly 2.5 billion lines worth about £9.8bn. Nearly a fifth of those crimes were violent, and historically low prices are helping fuel use.
