Brexit, Lockdown And Truss Left Lasting Scars On UK Minds

Five national shocks over the past decade, including the Brexit referendum, two Covid lockdowns, Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Liz Truss's mini-budget, caused a serious and lasting decline in UK mental health, according to a new UCL-led study. Using annual data on 87,857 adults, researchers said the first Covid lockdown had the biggest impact, equal to about 900,000 more people seeking GP help for depression.
