BP is preparing to sell its solar business to a Kuwait-backed fund

BP is preparing to sell its solar business to a Kuwait-backed fund

The energy giant first invested in the four-gigawatt Lightsource division in 2017, and it now operates across 15 countries. A joint bid from private equity group Qualitas Energy and a Kuwait Investment Authority branch is currently the highest offer. The expected deal follows a recent decision by the British firm to drop its climate targets and prioritise fossil fuels.
