BP chief urges prime minister Andy Burnham to back domestic energy

Meg O'Neill told the new prime minister that the UK ought to rely on local oil and gas first. The comments arrived as BP reported quarterly profits more than doubling to $5.73bn following market disruption caused by the Middle East conflict. Following six decades operating in the basin, the energy company is presently working to divest its North Sea division.
