A boat carrying 305 migrants from Djibouti to Yemen capsized near Guhere on the night of 8 October, with 15 children among the 139 confirmed dead. More than 80 Ethiopian nationals survived the shipwreck, and search and rescue operations are continuing. The UN's International Organization for Migration called it one of the deadliest shipwrecks on this route.
