Average UK house prices fall for the first time in three years

High borrowing costs and inflation linked to the Iran war have pushed the typical property value down to about £298,500. London and the South East took the biggest hits, with homes in the capital dropping 1.5% in the year to August. Lloyds Bank expects the market to stay quiet as househunters wait for the October Budget before making a move.
